The Wastewater Treatment Plant is designed to treat 720,000 gallons of wastewater each day. Our average daily flow rate is 350,000 gallons, which is 49% of our design capacity at the Plant.
The treatment process consists of screenings removal, grit removal, aeration tank, secondary clarifiers, chlorine contact basins and post aeration steps before the treated wastewater is discharged into Otter Creek. The Vine Grove Wastewater Treatment Plant also owns and operates a Land Farm facility to dispose of biosolids.
The Plant consistently operates well below the KPDES permit limits. Our number one goal at the Wastewater Treatment Plant is to protect public health and to protect the waterways from pollutants.
